I think Nostr had the correct idea with Zaps and Value-4-Value, but needs to expand the functionality. The most fascinating thing about Bitcoin (to me) is that it enables money to be sent peer-to-peer permissionlessly using all the same communications methods we use to send messages. That should enable peer-to-peer global commerce. But cash is only a small portion of the types of money/value which people use. If Lightning could deliver other asset types like tickets, coupons, titles, tokenized stocks certificates, tokenized commodity futures peer-to-peer, the Nostr protocol is ideally designed to convey the accompanying messages. Lots of projects including Taproot assets, Spark, LRC-20, etc have claimed asset-over-Lightning capability, but at best they work only for high volume fungible tokens like stablecoins.
I've been working on a project called EvrLight which implements buying/selling any type of token peer-to-peer over Lightning
