"safe" and "secure" ai (think llms) is the equivalent of clean coal imo. In order to actually facilitate that, you need to do a bunch of work that ends up being far more of a burden than just doing the original work yourself. Just like how 100% "clean coal" would end up consuming the same, if not more energy than you'd ever get out of the coal itself.
