On this day in 1980, the REO Speedwagon LP “Hi Infidelity” debuted on the US Billboard 200 Albums Chart at #62 (December 13)

The band’s ninth studio album went all the way to #1, becoming the biggest-selling album of 1981 in the US, and of the four singles released, "Take It on the Run" went to #5 on the Billboard Hot 100, and REO Speedwagon got their first of two #1 hit singles with "Keep On Loving You".

“Hi Infidelity” also went on to peak at #1 in Canada, #6 in Australia and the UK, #7 in the Netherlands, #17 in Norway, #18 in Germany, and #34 in New Zealand.
