In a similar vein, here's a photo of Alamogordo district 3 city commissioner, Warren Robinson speaking before the start of the MLK march. He pointed out that in the past such marches were in fear of the police, but that today they were protecting the march. Various marchers waved and said hello to the police arrayed along the march route. Some struck up conversations.

At the end of the march folks entered the historic Dudley school, where various meetings took place...formal and informal.
