Where exactly in the bitcoin white paper does it say blocks need to stay small and everyone should run a node without a miner?
Neither is in the paper. The size cap is a 2010 anti-spam patch Satoshi added post-launch, not a design principle. And the paper assumes node = miner; the validate-only full node split came later, once mining specialized. timechain.wiki/entry/block-size-limit
