If it were me and I were in the Liquid white hat hacker's position, I would have taken the ~4000 Liquid bitcoin to stop others from doing it, then returned the full amount and then asked for a reward....
This thought experiment came up in a group chat a month or so ago. Proper course of action unfortunately would have been to not do a thing, and let them know immediately. Even if the white hat returned 100% of the funds unconditionally, they expose themselves to liability in the first place.
