yes, there are several ways to do it. you could 1) give the agent access to your email or 2) you could sync your email locally and then have the agent read the synced email.
i do #2, where i use a command line email client to check email and then my agent reads the command line email. it works very well. i use "notmuch", but im seeing people say good things about "alot", so i might change to that or at least check it out.
