I struggle with understanding the layers of tech in the devices I use. E.g. I'll get a VPN but then find out that because of X and Y (which I don't have a mental framework for) it won't help in certain cases.

Privacy is impt to me but I often give up because I don't really understand how the tech works.

Idk what magic wand would help that. I just have a lot of studying to do.
