Not everything in the universe is endowed with meaning.

We want everything to make sense.

Yet a world in which meaning is pre-assigned would be a world without freedom.

If everything were preordained, nothing would remain but mere functioning.

Freedom requires openness.
Without room to act, there is no choice.
Without emptiness, no meaning.

Meaning is not a property of the world.
Meaning is a human task.
