I'm surprised this wasn't considered. @redshift even mentioned it to @Alex Gleason a few weeks ago. I built the proof of concept with the hope that it would help make Bitcoin more private and make payments easier - all you need is an email address. And now we're debating making Bitcoin less private / objectively worse.
