So question... I have a fantasy where I buy an old beater gas car and later convert it to an electric vehicle.
In this fantasy, I also put solar panels on the car to help offset charging.

@nprofile1q... honestly I have 5kw solar and it makes little difference to the 100kwh battery in the car (more so as I have 15kwh of house batteries that are first in line to charge).
Unless you're in an extremely sunny part of the world, solar on the car is only good for the radio (and even then, one 400w panel isn't going to give you much range)
