Uganda taxed centralized social media (installed a national paywall). The unintended good result was the people suddenly discovering federated and decentralized social media. Who needs farcebook anyway?

To me this is what to expected, sort of, when these companies operate unchecked for enough time. The government should have done this earlier. People and governments underestimate the power of false propaganda being conducted by big tech
