This is the first time I’ve seen this addressed. I am one such person, save for the fact I have no tech job, just a seemingly worthless CS degree. I literally put 40-50k as my expected salary because that’s about twice what I currently make as a restaurant server (even though ~80k is considered a starting tech salary where I am).

I’m at the point where 40k would probably be more money than I know what to do with, literally.
