I went with Family Protective Services on an inspection once, and their clients husband had HUNDREDS of chili cook-off trophies and plaques. One from as recent as a month prior to the day I was there.
That house had so many roaches we were dancing, and back outside within 2 minutes. Literally every single square inch of those kitchen was crawling.
There's absolutely no possible way those bugs weren't a special ingredient.
I'll NEVER eat chili from someone I don't personally know and trust again.
