Quantum mechanics is only useful for key exchange. Your smartphone, a classical computer, is already more capable of breaking asymmetric cryptography than the most powerful quantum computer on Earth. Writing a theoretical paper is one thing; engineering and building actual hardware is something entirely different. It’s a bit like string theory.
