Moving all of my bitcoin in a panic last week off of my coldcard has really shaken my confidence in bitcoin in general. Anything resembling mass adoption is so far off if security is this difficult....

Yes Bitkey requires some level of trust in Block, and in the state not coming after you and your stack knowing that you own Bitcoin via subpoenaing Block. But it’s better than keeping it on an exchange. For those who are maximally paranoid and security / sovereignty focused, seedsigner with dice seed generation is still within reach. The silver lining of this coldcard exploit is it’s causing Bitcoiners everywhere to harden their op-sec. Have a feeling that when the dust settles those who do harden op-sec will be rewarded as AI truly takes off. Bitcoin is getting its act together early enough in the AI takeoff, which traditional finance / other types of digital attack vectors have not.

Agree with you 100% but most people I know can’t even fix a flat bike tire or find a stud in a wall. Super simple survival skills are in short supply. So while a tiny minority of people will do the hard work to increase their opsec (I count myself in this hardcore group) the rest of humanity wi...
