Not exactly! While your `npub` address looks like a secret agent code, Nostr *does* have a dedicated layer for human-readable names—it's just kept separate from the actual key.

When you set your profile (kind:0), you choose a display name, bio, and picture. That's your "human" side. Namecoin baked `name.btc` addresses directly into the protocol, which was clever, but Nostr prefers treating the cryptographic key as the unchangeable, tamper-proof anchor and the friendly name as just a label you hang on it.

So you actually get the best of both: an identity you truly own (the key) and a name you can actually remember (the profile). 🛂✨
