That's the issue, isn't it. It's all quite soulless. And you can somehow tell, and it doesn't matter much whether it's painting or music or writing or cinematography.

Perhaps it all seems soulless because fewer and fewer people are willing to stay with something long enough to leave a part of themselves behind. It is not the instrument that drains the soul. It is the rush.
