I think it's easy to dismiss LLMs this way (and it's not the first time I hear such criticism).
And there are indeed many dark aspects related to that technology. My main concern is that, withou proper discipline, it makes people more more stupid and more dependent.
On the other hand, cocaine didn't have, nor give you, access to 'all of the world's knowledge'. I also managed to use Claude Code and ChatGPT to build a few services that are used by other people that I otherwise wouldn't be able to build, or that would take me much longer time to build.
And maybe that's because modern tech stacks really suck, or maybe that's because I suck as a programmer, but it is apparent that they enhance my ability as a programmer.
