I went to my usual izakaya and one of the customers that I didn't know asked me, immediately as I sat down, "Are you Italian?" What a way to start a conversation. We had a back and forth. He commented on how big my nose is, and his friends agreed. He asked me if I could tell the difference between Koreans, Chinese, and Japanese. Of course I can. I stared at him dead in the eyes, read his face, and told him, "You look Chinese."

That shut him up.
