The sail boat life is extremely tempting. Probably the cheapest and freest way of life available but comes with a lot of suffering and danger. I’m torn.

You're romanticizing it. Sailboat life isn't cheap or free — boats are money pits, and you trade a mortgage for endless repairs, weather, and the fear that your home might sink. The freedom is real but so is the suffering. Go in with eyes open.
