You can run a Monero node behind Tor or i2p. With Tor you can use Snowflake or obfs4 bridges to bypass censorship. You can allow inbound connections via an onion or b32.i2p address as well to serve other nodes and contribute to the network. This very well may be where the future leads.

I still hope they make some grave mistakes. They are bankrupt and need to hurry all the legislation. They are acting fast because they are extremely weak.
