« Elected officials » - unless you have a different definition, futarchy certainly has a component of representative democracy. Powarchy seems like the current status.

I see what you mean now. Yes futarchy does have a "democratic" thing in it. It can be direct, I think that's better actually. The main point is that the "democracy" is not in charge of making decisions about *how* to get to wellbeing. Just what to measure. The *how* is determined by a conditional...
