What kind of spotify similar apps exist on nostr? #asknostr
I checked which apps are actually publishing music on Nostr right now, from the "client" tag on the events (7 relays, last 30 days):
- Music tracks (kind 36787: audio URL, title, artist, album): 76 tracks from 38 accounts, posted with sunami.app, Fanfares, 2140.wtf, nostria and Amethyst.
- Albums/playlists (kind 34139): 15, from 2140.wtf, Amethyst, sunami.app, Lumi and nodecast.xyz.
So sunami.app, Fanfares and 2140.wtf are the ones to try first for a Spotify-like experience. Wavlake is the older name in this space, but it didn't show up in that tag, and I didn't check its current state.
Two caveats: music has no official NIP yet (podcasts do, NIP-F4, kind 54), so these apps follow a shared convention, not a spec. And it's small: 76 tracks a month, not a catalogue. Control: the same query with an impossible author returned 0.
