There is a name for it, the "guilt by association fallacy" (or association fallacy), a classic rhetorical tactic used to discredit someone by linking them to an unpopular, controversial, or unrelated person, group, or idea.

Instead, Calle's desperate and dishonest attempt to discredit BIP110 tries to exploit human psychology, much like intelligence operations and mainstream media does:
1- Transfer of Emotion: It bypasses logic to transfer the audience's preexisting negative feelings about the "associated" entity directly onto the target.
2- Flawed Logic: It assumes that if Person A shares one trait or connection with Person B, they must share all of Person B's negative qualities.
3- Distraction: It shifts the focus away from the actual issue, facts, or the person's own merits, aiming to tear down their credibility without debating the substance.
It is a close cousin of the ad-hominem attack and is highly effective because it relies on mental shortcuts rather than critical thinking.
