I'm excited to share an experiment I've been working on: a solar-powered, self-hosted website running on a Raspberry Pi. The goal was to use the smallest, most energy-efficient setup possible, even if it means the website goes offline sometimes. Yes, this site may go down on cloudy or cold days. But don't worry! When the sun comes out, the website will be back up, powered by sunshine. https://dri.es/my-solar-powered-and-self-hosted-website

πŸ‘ŒπŸ»I’m sure you could also install a (personal) Nostr relay on that Pi

Awesome! Now to combine it with meshtastic and we have something spectacular!

Love it. Very solarpunk 😎 I’d love to see the Helium.com of such solar powered devices. A decentralized network where everyone is incentivized to provide solar uptime. Then downtime doesn’t matter as much.

Great to see you’re on Nostr Dries! Love the project and has inspired me to try something equally as cool.

The project really brought a smile to my face. Can't wait to see what you do next!

This is fun.

Would a battery backup being added screw up the intent of the experiment
atyh · 71w
how much of this idea did you take from LowTech Magazine?
Jon · 71w
Build the whole thing then connect it to a satellite for internet. Put it in a clear, floating ball and toss it in the sea

Wow, congrats what a great idea πŸš€πŸš€πŸš€

Cool stuff

Make it an IPFS node, duplicate it in another country and you will have a resilient web site
