Your right the person is bad acting. I use to see stuff like that mass tagging in raffles & giveaways. I'm sure on the fediverse theres no contests so theres no real reason to tag all those people. Yeah it don't need to exist & no it's not the devs responsibility to make code worse it's to make it better.
Better for who? Everyone not good or bad just everyone. Do you remember when something breaks people use to patch it or create some process for handling excessive or exceptional data? I thought maybe someone could come up with a way to handle it better & somehow respect other instances character limit.
There will always be one person trying to stress test or abuse the limit.
