I don't think Orwellian is the right term for this. It's just a power happy politician grabbing power. Happens always, happens everywhere and happens through the entire history of nationstates.

In the mean time. The posterchild of democracy, the USA, is rolling out an AI surveillance grid that even Orwel couldn't imagine. The Palentir, Stargate, geniusact combo is scary AF. Software is free to copy, so after the rollout in the US, surely the rest of the world will get it 'for free' in exchange of some data. Maybe there should be some more focus here?
