Bitcoin did what it was supposed to do. It worked and worked well. It showed why it is the only true free market human kind has ever known. However, BIP110 showed many vulnerabilities that are currently present and pointed out future problems that need to addressed.
1. Core I believe may have some bad actors involved .
2. If mining is centralized, then is Bitcoin truly decentralized? How do we protect against that?
3. Ossification of the base layer can and will become a problem in the future. It needs to be addressed.
Those are just 3 things that came to mind immediately. There was a messaging problem on the BIP110 side, but Core also did a poor job of communicating. The protocol held and did what it was supposed to do. But, we can't just go forward and pretend everything is good and Bitcoin is secure. There are potential problems that will make Bitcoin no better than gold in the future
