Yes, olive trees and olive oil were and are considered gifts of the Gods ... in particular by the Goddess Athena, daughter of Zeus. The trade of olive oil was the main reason why Athens could become one of the most powerful Greek city states in the classic Hellenistic era. It was the liquid gold of the time.
As an olive farmer in Greece myself, if I think about it more deeply, it's indeed incredible under which harsh soil and climate conditions olive trees thrive and what value they provide to people all over the Mediterranean since millenia: Olive oil, olives, wood, skin care, lamp oil, infusions, heating fuel, shade ... and the list goes on πΏππΌ
