I’m not aware that subscriptions/paywalls/patreon features have ever been implemented on Nostr clients.
Yes they had, Primal, Damus, you can get a premium membership.
The only difference is that X has a profit sharing program based on engagement and the clients on Nostr just keeps the money for themselves.
