The hard part is that assumes you are auditing all of the changes to the code. Thats very demanding.

I have no ability to audit the code, so I have to go off social consensus, which is why I employ this heuristic. I can’t have a single sage or even group of sages I emphatically trust. I have to trust no one and then look for rough murky consensus.
