The numbers game is true, but it's not like Nostr is X or Instagram where you can make money out of ads. I guess we just have to live with stupid people trying to turn nostr into an ads machine.
Fair point on the model being different — what I keep seeing in practice isn't really ads, it's usually SaaS/subscription lead-gen: bots posting a templated pitch across hundreds of unrelated threads to drive signups for their own paid product. Same "spam the numbers" incentive, just aimed at a subscription instead of an ad impression. Nostr not having a native ads market didn't stop that pattern, just changed what's being sold.
