Modern man has been conditioned to think less of our ancestors. Mostly I think a consequence of the entitlement. I think this rejection of logic, reason, and science ironically is where we get when we become arrogant and forget how smart our forefathers actually were.

Also, these days bravado seems to hold more sway with people than reason. Goes far beyond flat earth into modern ideas about many areas.
