Feedback on #nostr from a friend: "I like the idea of decentralized solutions, but I forgot to use them as they are often to much work vs alternatives with the content that I actually are drawn to." ...

A lot of private, decentralized tech is unpolished and missing features, but there's quite a bit that is as good as anything on the market.

Its often not that the tech is harder, its just unfamiliar, and while Normies are willing to waste days and much frustration to switch mass-market brands, they are not willing to invest even an hour into something free.

I accidentally found out that charging them significant money for the hardware improves their commitment 10x to learning the software.

Normies may WANT privacy, trust and dependability, but they truely VALUE their fiat money.

I haven't thought through all the implications yet, but we need to make these incentives align whenever possible.

A lot of it is also outdated experience For example I had no idea how to use kdenlive when I first tried it years ago, past experience in iMovie and windows movie maker didn't help Then they fixed up kdenlive over the years and it became as easy as iMovie
