People knew to wash their hands since long ago and the polio vaccine came much later. Why was there a need for the vaccine to be invented?
The actually didn’t. They washed to stay “clean” once in a while, but they had no idea they were spreading germs that could infect them. That is quite a new discovery. And it just so happens once they discover germ theory, disease started the significant drop.
