I'm still seriously offended by the lockdowns, the ban on all sorts of innocuous activities and the complete destruction of civil liberties.

You should be. My family and I lived through it in Queens NY for 2 years before we were able to flee permanently to Florida. The political restrictions were practically non existent here compared to the NYC hellscape the politicians created.
