It's even worse when you gift books 📚 with good intentions. I used to gift A LOT of books especially to my best friends and still do so, but when asking about them half a year later it's "oh.. um I didn't have the time" etc. noone read even a page 😐
I console myself with "if the time is right, people get the books they need". Happened to me and somehow the "wow I've got to share this" has to be without expectations. 😮‍💨
