When my father died, I offered to pay off his Amex card.
They refused to talk to me until I provided a death certificate, copy of the will and proof I was an executor for his estate.
Two years late...
Here in Germany it’s different, you can indeed inherit debt. As “beneficiary” you have to pay it off.
