You used Bitcoin when it had smaller hash power that could be “killed” by a large entity. The reason Bitcoin was safe back then is the same reason any smaller chain is safe today.
Nope it was path dependent luck, not enough people thought it would be important or a threat. it could have been killer but it got big enough. World already knows different.
