I looked into it a bit. The biggest change is that my local card shop pretty much only does Commander format now. Seems like that became the most popular paper format.

I have to agree with others in these threads: Arena is a lot of fun and well done.
One downside is Alchemy which has decks that do not, cannot, work in cardboard. But I guess it's to compete with Heartstone, etc.
Another downside is a pet peeve: MtG has just too many releases per year IMHO. One cannot keep up with it.
