Welcome - there’s going to be a lot of scammers right now, so be very very careful.

If you’re ok with KYC, I would recommend you start with a reputable custodian like River or Strike and dollar cost average into Bitcoin using their platform (buying a little each day).

Then find your local BitDevs meetup or other Bitcoin-only meetup and learn how to do self-custody safely.

Don’t move the Bitcoin to self custody until you’ve learned and practiced how to do things correctly and safely with a tiny amount of Bitcoin you’re happy to lose, and have backed everything up and practiced recovering from the backups to ensure you got it right.

If you’re looking for non-KYC, then small purchases via RoboSats or HodlHodl direct to a self-custody wallet is the way to go, or learn how to rent hash rate for mining. Buying miners is almost always unprofitable unless you happen to live somewhere that electricity is incredibly cheap, and some of the services that say they will buy and operate miners for you are scams so be careful. Ask your local Bitcoiners for their recommendations.

Avoid all the other crypto coins because they are almost all complete scams.
