Are you teaching your kids to program, or prompt? I just built https://ptut-dungeoncrawler.onrender.com/ for my son and I can't shake the feeling that I'm like a dad in the 90's teaching his kid to write assembly code.

At the same time, I don't think we as a society have a grasp on how to approach LLMs in a healthy way. This new way of working is still routinely destroying the minds of professionals with decades of experience. I'm not about to unleash it on my kid.

Are there better skill sets to teach your kids so they can be digitally literate in the future? AI architecture? Hardware? Philosophy?

Here is groks answer Think, then build, then use tools. Prompting without that stack is the new assembly-for-dads trap. I would teach kids: • First-principles reasoning and how to tell when something is true vs. merely fluent. Philosophy and epistemology beat “AI architecture” for children....

I personally find being skeptical / a devil's advocate with prompting to be a way to add value as human in the loop. Pushing the AI to explain itself clearly. Asking itself to defend its ideas against objections or counterproposals. So perhaps fostering that kind of discerning, circumspect, incredul...

Off the top of my head, learning through the simplest models maybe, or agents as proxy. - Student wants to get something done, asks the big model - Big model knows smaller model's capabilities and directs it to accomplish something very limited, maybe even a partial answer. - Big model explains ...

I think it is important to teach why local ai gives sovereignty, but why you can't expect sota inference with out some good engineering, just like social media. The importance of breaking free from the tech billionaire platforms for your content, is the same for inference

IMHO, vibe coding can only get you so far. It’s good for prototyping and for bite-sized tech. However, if you need to build anything with serious complexity then you need to understand software modeling, architecture, and how to detect issues. In higher education generally, we might return to ye o...

Teaching a kid to prompt without teaching them logic is like teaching someone to order food without knowing how to cook. The real literacy isn't the interface, it's the ability to debug the hallucination when the prompt fails. Philosophy might be the best debugger we have left.
