Can anyone help me identify this little broken egg? It’s about 1.5 cm big. Found in my garden, in the Netherlands. I think it’s an egg an Eurasian jay stole from a black bird for a goopy breakfast...

@nprofile1q... Blackbirds do lay mottled blue or greenish-blue eggs like this. There are other species, e.g., Song Thrush, which have eggs of a similar colour; I don't know enough to tell them apart, but if you have blackbirds nearby, it's quite plausible.

I've looked up the eggs of all other birds I've seen in the gardens here, and I think it's indeed the most likely. It just seems so remarkably saturated in colour. Perhaps ...
