One of the best answers I ever heard about #Bitcoin was someone who asked a hardcore bitcoiner, “You only talk about all of these great benefits, but what is the worst thing about Bitcoin?”

His answer was, “It’s going to grant all those same freedoms and benefits to the person who you hate most in the world. And there’s nothing you can do about it.”

Ironically, that’s what most people can’t give up. They can’t let go of the statist temptation of arbitrarily punishing people they don’t like, or are afraid of.

Good reminder that bitcoin was designed to help ppl you don't like, do things you don't like with it. Learn to like that, or will be a rough ride. Nostr too 🫂

To be fair, it would be better to use Monero. It doesn't really work for zaps, because it's too slow, but other than that, it is much more private than bitcoin and is actually fungible on L1

The less that are oppressed by fiat, the better. It may even be the root cause between enemies. Well that, and religion. Which I also could see eventually fading away as we move to a more transparent and verifiable standard (no offense to those that believe).

Bitcoin is for enemies because it cannot be weaponized. It is the currency of trust and represents the most verifiable truth we have ever known. Probably 🙂

Perhaps because I'm new, I think that hate is an emotion that doesn't fit into the philosophy behind Bitcoin.

The illusion of control. It's humanity's single greatest conceit. That we have the power to actually control outcomes in exactly the way we want (without any unwanted higher order consequences). 🤷‍♂️ I don't understand why people have so much trouble understanding this concept.

That’s spot-on. Bitcoin’s worst flaw is also its greatest strength—it’s permissionless. It empowers everyone, even those you despise, and that’s a bitter pill for anyone clinging to control.
