Mountain out of a mole hill. Spam under the current regime makes a node marginally more expensive to run. Bip110 will make a normal node impossible to run.
When people say 110 won’t stop spam they are talking about the fact that spam will simple come in through other vectors . The vectors that 110 leave open will cause massive bloat to the utxo set. If spam volume doesn’t reduce drastically as like claims it will for reasons🙏, it will mean that your little home node will be obsolete in year maybe two after activation.
Personally I would rather upgrade drives than buy a home server rack setup .
