@nprofile1q... I like (but barely use) Pedometer++. If you like step tracking and want to check your count on the Watch, check it out. P++ also has hiking/navigation features I've never used.

I'm not sure how well a lanyard will track step counts. I think the tracking assumes it's on a swinging wrist…

For music you'd need AirPods (or other Bluetooth earphones). With that, music & podcasts should work well on the Watch (not that I do this). You might need a different podcast app to improve sync, although iOS 26.4 apparently has a sync bug, so this *might* conceivably get better without you doing anything, once Apple ships the fix.

I have airpods but sometimes I just want one unit that will play its own music. Lanyard definitely a non-option for me but good to know it works for others...
