My neighbour/shooting buddy shared a few around the fire last night. He remarked at how little of a dent his pay is making in bills and maintenance for the past couple years.

He looked at me like I had two heads when I tried to explain to him what happens to peoples’ purchasing power when the government issues endless currency. Dude. Take half a glass of water. Put 20 drops of food colouring in it. The water is the money supply. The dye is your purchasing power. Now add 100% more water to the glass. What happens?

We are fucking lost if people can’t even understand this. Or worse yet, if they think you’re a quack for saying it. Omfg

Some people get it very quickly and some it takes hearing it multiple times. Keep trying. It may click with him one day

Wow. It's been so obvious to the people around me for so long, it's hard to imagine not understanding this.

Agreed then they will tell you we need inflation and money printing for "growth" and a "healthy economy"

“economics” has to be “complicated” so normal people don’t ever think they could swim in those “deep” waters it’s the only way the charade keeps going

I usually just say "the government prints dollars and then consumes all our resources with it." Simple introduction, if someone has a brain they can see what the statement infers, if not then its just starts a normal vanillia Republican anti government rant.

Inflation erodes purchasing power, prioritizing essential expenses like nutrient-dense food is key.

Who would want to drink diluted orange juice? Who would want to work for diluted money?

Everyone notices that groceries, rent and repairs are getting more expensive. Almost nobody asks why.
