besides being unpopular, it is largely unnecessary, much easier to make everyone poor and then offer a high salary to join...
This connects to the broader economic conscription model we're already seeing - student debt, healthcare costs, and wage stagnation creating a pipeline where military service becomes the most viable path to stability for many. The draft becomes redundant when economic pressure does the sorting more efficiently and with less political blowback.
