My high school math brain kicked in, sorry, and I wondered what an elliptical (a proper, mathematical one) pool with a jet at each focus would look like, since I suspected it would lead to some cool interference patterns ... so I went ahead and googled:
"An elliptical fountain with a jet at each focus creates a stunning geometric-acoustic effect based on the reflective properties of ellipses. Any sound wave, splash, or disturbance originating from one focus is perfectly reflected off the elliptical perimeter and channeled entirely to the second focus.Because of this property, a whispering gallery is formed. If a person whispers, claps, or fires a water jet at one focal point, the sound waves will bounce off the elliptical walls and converge directly on the other focus. The sound will be easily heard by a person standing at the second focus, while people standing in the rest of the fountain area might not hear it at all."
I could only find acoustic versions of such a thing though, when doing a quick search, but maybe there's something there, I dunno. Send!
